WASHINGTON -- A day after saying he would not reveal the names on a list of allegedly homosexual Republicans, then promptly linking to a Web site that published the list, David Corn, Washington editor for The Nation, today revealed on his blog that he also has a list of all black Republicans in Washington, but he would never, under any circumstances, publish it.
"I have in my hands a list of all African-American Republicans in Washington," Corn wrote. Now, I have no idea if this list of African-American Republicans is accurate. My black-dar is not so good. But if it is accurate, I think a lot of people would be very surprised to know who's on it.
"Of course, I'd never reveal those names. I think involuntarily outing African-Americans is wrong. Whatever identity people want to give themselves, that's their business.
"On the other hand, as a white liberal, I intuitively know exactly how people of all racial, ethnic and sexual classifications should think, feel, act and vote. (It's a gift we liberals have.) And I have to say that people with deeply pigmented skin do not belong in the Republican Party. It just isn't right for them. So maybe African-American Republicans deserve to be outed after all, just so they'll learn what's good for them and switch to the party in which they really belong.
"But, as I said, I'd never out an African-American who didn't want the world to know his or her skin color. I mean, if the GOP candidate for governor in Pennsylvania were a black former NFL star, you'd never hear that from me. If the Secretary of State were a Russian scholar and classically trained pianist who just happened to be a black woman, I'd never tell. And if this Web site published a list of all African-American Republicans in America, I would never, ever link to it. Because I think involuntarily outing African-Americans is wrong, and you'd never catch me doing that, ever.
lol, love them liberals.
